This isn’t really Cubs news, let along Marmol news, but I just read that Albert Pujols broke Chris Young’s nose with a line drive. Take that Chris Young! That’s the bad karma left over from trying to knock Derek Lee’s head off. It’s hard for me say anything nice about the Cardinals but I like Albert Pujols and now I like him even more.
Well, from the two innings I saw I can only assume Rich Hill is hurt. I’m just aggravated that Marmol wasn’t put in during the troubling 11th inning. And I’m aggravated that Soriano didn’t bunt Blanco over with NO OUTS in the top of the eleventh. That’s just bad fundamental baseball and if you keep doing that of course you’re going to lose. And that’s what the Cubs did: 5-3.
The Cubs bullpen is down to Marmol. That’s either really good or really bad. Chad Fox seems to be doing well though. I spoke too soon.; leadoff hit.
Let’s see if the Cardinals are smarter than the Cubs and bunt Miles over to second. And it’s a passed ball. Super. I can’t believe Blanco would let that happen. It’s now the Cardinals’ game to lose. Oh my god, put in Marmol to strike out the side. DO IT!
The winning run is now at third and the Cardinals are a sacrifice away the win. That sucks. I told you to put in Marmol.
Homerun. That’s just adding insult to injury. Why you (Lou) didn’t put in Marmol or have Soriano bunt I’ll never know but that was just stupid.
Base hit for Henry Blanco! Hank White. Atta boy. Let’s hope Soriano can keep it going; he apparently hit a homerun to force extra innings.
If anyone other than Soriano were up here they would be bunting and he should be too. But oh no, not Soriano. And he strikes out. Shocker.
Theriot flies out to center. Boring. Come on Derek Lee, a two run blast here would be great. Or they’ll pitch around him (on four pitches no less) to get to Fontenot. That’s not that smart; he’s no Ramirez but he’s a solid hitter. I just hope he can make them pay.
Ground out to second. Damn.
All I know is that Blanco and Fox are in. It looks like Rich Hill only went 2/3 of an inning. That’s not good. Ugh, Yadier Molina is up. I can’t stand him. Even though I want Pujols to fail because he plays on the Cardinals I think he’s a great player and, from what I’ve seen, a real stand-up guy.
And Chad Fox knocks down Molina. See ya.
And another one bites the dust. Man, where has Chad Fox been all this time?
So I missed most of the game but I’m here now. Lucky for me–not so lucky for people who want to go to bed. The Cubs went down in order but all I saw was Reed Johnson lining out to right. I really hate the Cardinals so I want the Cubs to win even more than against the Brewers.
